Commissions

The satisfaction of creating private commissions that are unique representations of something intensely personal to a client is – for me and for many artists – hugely rewarding. Please email me at celia@artbyceliabennett.com or telephone me on 07766 240503 to discuss a commission.

Private commissions - Dunstanburgh Castle by Celia Bennett

It might be a place that captures a precious moment in time, a painting or sketch of that special someone, a memory that through my work can be permanently brought to mind by it being on view in your home.

Commissions are wonderful gifts for the people in your life who mean the most. The fun of working with a client, discussing the size and style of the piece of work (often in secret to ensure a genuine surprise for the person to whom it will be given) is part of the experience!

How does the commission process work?

A commission begins with you. Your ideas, your wishes, your feelings about how a bespoke piece of art can be made special.

We will discuss the source of the work that you wish me to create. Most often this will be an existing photograph. Where necessary, a new photograph can be taken. Next, we will discuss the medium through which I will work. Acrylic paint on canvas, watercolour, sketch, collage? Examples of different works that I have produced previously will help you make the right choices.

And what about the size and shape of the work? The location in which it’s likely to be hung? These are all factors that will make the work perfect for you or for the person to whom it will be given as a gift. Throughout the process you will be invited to view the work in progress.

How much does a commission cost?

A commission is unique, so the final cost will depend upon the size of the piece and the materials used, the time it will take to produce the finished work and so on.
